Andrew Miller, Founder at GrowthExpertz

In our latest Accomplished Peeps interview, we had the pleasure to speak with Andrew Miller, Founder and Growth Consultant at GrowthExpertz, Marketing Coach at AndrewStartups, and Chief Marketing Officer at Remote Team Wellness. You could say Andrew has a lot on the go, but that would be an understatement. He not only manages to lead his remote teams successfully, but he does it all while living a digital nomad life. He is also one of the many remote work advocates that proves daily, that even without a designated office and by leaning into async communication, leading successfully while remote isn't only possible, but it's also profitable.

Explain a little about your roles at Growth Expertz and AndrewStartups, and what a typical workday looks like for you.

I'm a veteran startup Marketing consultant and so most of my day is spent executing and managing growth campaigns for startup clients around the world. I usually focus on PR, SEO, Influencer Marketing, Paid Advertising, Content Marketing, Podcasting and other channels but GrowthExpertz is my startup marketing agency that works with funded startups, and AndrewStartups is my personal brand where I have books, public speaking and even a coaching program with online courses to teach bootstrapped startups how to scale without a budget.

Describe the layout and feel of your personal workspace.

I am a nomad so I work from Airbnb's around the world. Currently I am in Puerto Vallarta where I have invested in a nice work set up but I will be traveling this summer throughout Europe and South Africa so I will be with just my trusty MacBook and nothing else. Ideally I will get more when I settle down but as a nomad it's all about staying light.

What's one habit or ritual you need to start and finish your day and why is it non-negotiable for you?

I love squeezing juice in the morning, usually vegetables with ginger, turmeric and lime juice in the mornings...I do this before anything else. It cleanses my body and gives me a rush of sugar and vitamins that I love. After a long day of work I like to go for a swim on the beach or at the pool depending on where I live but some form of screen-free movement is ideal.

How does your team use asynchronous communication to stay in the loop while working remotely?

We operate on what I call a Results Oriented Work Environment meaning we don't care about work hours or times someone is working as long as we can synch at least once a week, and then be in communication via Slack/WhatsApp/iMessage then we are fine...its all about working with people you trust.

How do you limit distractions while working from home?

  • No notifications on any devices.
  • No Netflix or games ever (ok some Netflix late nights are ok but not during the day)
  • Mute all calls during the day
  • Delete major social apps from my phone
  • Sequester yourself away from roommates/family when working.

Is there one particular podcast or youtube channel that you can't stop listening to or watching?

Nope, I don't consume much content on the internet because of the last answer. Its a distraction. I read books.

If you could be doing anything else than what you're doing, what would it be?

Actor/Singer in Los Angeles, I pursued it for a short time and it was fun but I am very passionate about my work and helping people's businesses grow so I chose this instead.
